The reason we have most dental problems is due to destruction done by bacteria.

      Bottom Line:

Bacteria feed on sugars, go potty in your mouth (our bodies don't like that) and BOOM cavity, gingivitis, periodontal disease. This is why you have always heard to stay away from candy, sodas and other sugary foods. These things feed the bacteria big time.

      The Good News

There is an easy way to feed the bacteria some bad sugar. Xylitol has been shown to extinguish colonies of bacteria and even to reverse small cavities. This means that if you chew gum that shows Xylitol as its first ingredient, you can actually attack the bacteria. My favorite is Ice Breakers Ice Cubes by Hershey. FYI, they don't pay me to say that. I've encouraged Hershey to promote the health benefits of Ice Cubes to no avail.

To get an effective dosage, you should chew 4-6 pieces throughout the day. If you chew too much though, you may get a tummy ache. If you have questions or concerns, speak to your dental health professional.

I'm sharing this because it is an easy, pain-free way of taking care of your mouth. However, you must continue flossing, brushing and rinsing.

I encourage you to click the link to learn more about the benefits of Xylitol.
